Demands To The Government On Safety For Children, By Children – Telangana State Report
Law alone cannot curb sexual crimes against children. A holistic approach that involves all aspects of a child’s life – parents, teachers, caretakers and institutions is essential to address the safety and security of children.
Most importantly, the children themselves must have agency in the process, and their voices, thoughts and opinions must remain a guiding light throughout.
Rooted in this approach, with the aim to create awareness about sexual abuse, and empower children to speak up about the issue, the Human Rights Education (HRE) programme at Amnesty International India, along with the People’s Action for Rural Awakening (PARA) launched the “Our Safety Our Rights” campaign in August 2018 in Telangana.
